Immaterial

Parabolic brilliance reverberates but for a second
Spins its metallic web
Shimmers
Dazzling the lens
Casts no shadow
Bears down and uplifts
Catching the breath
Whispers promise
Echoes silence
Negates senses
An enigma rises and wanes
And disappears before awareness.

--Cheryl L. Crider April 10, 2005 For the International Library of Poetry

Dawning

Plucked from the reverie of dawn
I watched as the mist enveloped me
Choking on the humidity
Bathed by rains
Sensing the moisture of the earth
Cleansed with the dew of morning
Warmed by the rising sun…

Twilight

Alone in the shadow of twilight
Solitude is frightening
Silent, but the air vibrates
With impending action—violence

And I am alone
Listening, waiting
A chill wends its way on the wind

Dampness creeps in
I notice the hardness of the street
Under my feet

And I am alone
